A Bristol-based training provider, which offers free courses to help people into employment, is making new relationships with large employers to provide tailored training to equip budding recruits with specific skills desired by the organisation.
Working closely with Job Centre Plus and Waitrose, Suited, Booted, Recruited (SBR) was approached to create a retail focused course specifically tailored to the needs of the company and the 32 candidates that were keen to apply for positions soon to be available at a new Waitrose store opening this October in Chipping Sodbury.
This customised course, delivered at the Armadillo in Yate (15 - 24 July), provided essential employability classes about: body language, interview expectations, the perfect hand shake, and entering a room with confidence. The group also completed Employability and Customer Service qualifications, leant how to create compelling CVs and took part in mock interviews.
Unique to this course, the group learnt about the Waitrose brand, company values, culture and expectations. The group also completed online applications and participated in mock interviews that reflect the interview process the group will undertake with Waitrose, who has guaranteed all course participants an interview.
Synonymous with the SBR course participants were provided with a free suit, ensuring all aspects of a successful interview was covered.
Sarah Kopera comments: “Working with an employer to create a tailored course has been a huge benefit to both the company and course participants.
“The SBR team is eager to work with other employers that are looking to recruit new staff. The course created for Waitrose has been a great success and the formula could easily transfer to the needs of other organisations.”
SBR courses run every few weeks throughout Bristol and surrounding areas. This free two-week course is available to people of all ages and abilities and aims to provide unemployed people with a confidence boost and recognised qualifications required by employers.
