As part of Adult Learners' Week, local MP Stephen Williams dropped in on employment course, Hired and Inspired.
The MP for Bristol West spoke with the students about the course and their individual situations as well as taking part in team building activities and participating in a 'coping with change' session.
The course, Hired and Inspired, is part of SGS College's highly successful Suited, Booted, Recruited programme. It is a 10 day employability course designed to give people the necessary skills and qualifications needed to help get them back into the world of work.
Stephen comments: "I was highly impressed by my visit to South Gloucestershire and Stroud College during Adult Learners' Week and I am glad I got to see the impressive work they are doing through their 'Suited, Booted, Recruited' courses."
"Getting people back into work is one of the top priorities for myself and the Liberal Democrats and these courses are a great opportunity for people of all ages to build on their skills and get ahead in employment."
"Unemployment is falling in Bristol and the hardworking staff at SGS College can be proud of their contribution through providing this successful service."
Taking place from 16th-20th June, the national Adult Learners Week initiative is aimed at getting those aged over 19 back into education and to inspire adults to try something different. This year SGS College has tailored the sessions on offer to focus on employment.
Programme co-ordinator, Louise comments: "It was great having Stephen come and take part in our Hired and Inspired course on Friday. He gave us some fantastic feedback, commenting on how fun the activities were and what a lovely venue it was. The learners and staff really enjoyed meeting him and we were all very grateful that he was able to give up his time to come and get involved."
