Suited Booted Recruited learner secures employment

Part-time Suited Booted Recruited (SBR) student, Linda Alexander, has been offered a summer job working in the College's enrolment team.

Linda, 41 from Bristol, will be helping students enrol onto courses at the College and support the department with administration responsibilities.

Linda comments: I absolutely loved the course. After I had completed it I had so much confidence that I felt 100% ready for a job interview. The staff were all fantastic and the support they provided could not have been better."

This is the first time that SBR has been run as a part-time course. Seven people participated in the course and already one student has successfully gained employment.

Course Tutor, Jodie Jones, comments: "Linda grew in confidence throughout the course enabling her to write a strong application for a job at SGS. Her hard work paid dividends as she successfully secured a post in the enrolment department."

SBR provides a range of short employability courses to help people actively job-seeking gain confidence and keys skills to assist them back into work.

Since the launch of the first Employability course, 'Suited Booted Recruited' in October 2011, the team has supported and helped over 4000 learners achieve a number of free qualifications in Employability Skills, Customer Service and First Aid.

Due to popular demand, the team launched a progression course in January 2013 named Hired and Inspired, which further increased the skill set of learners, enabling them to acquire higher level qualifications and additional skills for the world of work.

In 2012-2013 SBR successfully saw over 62% of learners enter into further education or employment.
